At Friendship, radiographs (x-rays) are often used in the diagnosis of disease.  They can help us to evaluate bones, heart and lungs, throat, abdominal organs, and more.  We can evaluate organs for enlargement or masses, bones and joints for fractures or arthritis, and the abdomen for foreign objects, bladder stones, etc.

Friendship Hospital for Animals recently invested in a state-of-the-art digital radiography system.  This new system allows for rapid image capture and immediate, high quality images.  In most cases, our gentle and comforting technicians can take x-rays efficiently and without sedation.

As part of Friendship's commitment to high-quality and thorough veterinary care, our Doctors regularly send radiographs to a board certified radiologist for review.  We also have the ability to send radiographs digitally to radiology or surgical specialists for evaluation, as well as emergency hospitals or other veterinarians as needed.

Friendship Hospital for Animals can also perform special "contrast studies" that help to highlight areas of the bladder, kidneys, esophagus, stomach, and intestines. In addition, we offer canine OFA (Orthopedic Foundation of America) grading and certification for hips and elbows.
