After 6 years away, Dr. Catherine Hageman is excited to be returning to Friendship Hospital for Animals. While she had a wonderful time working at two lovely clinics - one in Carbondale and another in Boulder, Colorado - she's very happy to be "back home" again!

Dr. Catherine Hageman's road to becoming a veterinarian had more than a few twists and turns. Growing up in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, she was an avid reader of the books of British veterinarian James Herriott and set her sights on a career in veterinary medicine. Professors at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, however, persuaded her to pursue a career in engineering and she graduated first in her undergraduate class, then completed a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering. While working as an engineering consultant and nearing the completion of her doctoral degree in engineering, Dr. Hageman realized that she wanted a career she felt passionate about and followed her heart back to veterinary medicine.
Dr. Hageman graduated first in her class from the Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. Her special interests include dermatology and feline medicine.
Dr. Hageman is also a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist and graduate of the acupuncture course sponsored by the American Academy of Veterinary Medical Acupuncture that focuses on the neuroanatomical and physiological influences of needling therapy.
In her free time, Dr, Hageman enjoys travelling, hiking, snowshoeing and cooking with her husband, Davis, a veterinary pathologist at Colorado State University. She also enjoys spending time watching her "rescue" cat Sanchi San devote her life to training her "rescue" dog friends Gracie, the shepherd mix and H.R.M. (His Royal Majesty, also known as Herman), the dachshund-schnauzer mix.
